Slovenia

Slovenia not in your travel dreams?  It should be.  Bled, on the edge of the Julian Alps, has everything you need in one little package, if what you need is a Pletna ride, a baroque church on an island with a bell that grants wishes, a castle on a cliff overlooking the lake, a little ski hill (luge-track in the summer) and Anze Kopitar hauling around the Stanley Cup (not this year though - it'll be in Cole Harbour again this summer of course).  Ninety minutes away on the other side of the country, near the Italian border, we descended deeper underground into the enormous Skocjan Caves.  No wind in the caves.

It was really hard to get this shot.

Eventually we'll get a good one.

There he is!

The 99 steps to Saint Mary's - you have to carry your bride up here if you are getting married in the church.

Hi.

Nobody was playing the "how long can you keep your hand in the water for" game today.

Pals.

Our excellent guide Natasha tells us how to use the wishing bell in the church.

Paige getting ready to use the Gutenberg printint press, with Kayla's favourite Slovenian at the controls.

Yep, it was cold.

Beautiful.
No photos allowed inside the caves.  I'm pretty sure Emil took these illegal pictures.

The high bridge over the cave's river

Which ones point up and which ones point down?
